FAQs
Pasta & Sauces
Where is your sauce made?
Our sauces are made by a pasta sauce specialist in Adelaide, South Australia.
Where is your pasta made?
Our pastas are made in Adelaide too! By an Italian family producing some of the best Australian-made pasta in the country.
Where are your tomatoes from?
The Roma tomatoes are from Victoria. We’re committed to always using Australian grown tomatoes.
Why is pasta not all created equal?
A good quality pasta holds its shape, boasts higher nutritional benefits, and aids in digestibility. Unlike mass-produced varieties, artisanal pasta, crafted with bronze dies, features a rough and porous surface that allows the sauce to cling and absorb into the pasta. In contrast, cheaper, commercial brand pasta is extruded through Teflon dies, resulting in a smooth surface that repels sauces. At Saturday Night Pasta, we start with the best wheat flour from Australia’s “golden triangle”. Our pasta is extruded through bronze dies and then slow-dried for two days, preserving its natural flavours and textures while ensuring even cooking and maintaining its shape.
Are there any fillers or nasties in your products?
Nope! We are preservative free and only include the best ingredients.
Is there alcohol in your sauces?
Whilst alcohol is an important ingredient for our Dirty Martini sauce and Red Red Wine sauce, due to the cooking method the alcohol is almost cooked out. What's left behind is the vodka's botanicals in Dirty Martini, and the shiraz's rich, deep flavour in Red Red Wine.
Which local producers do you support with your products?
Archie Rose is an Australian brand I admire. I wanted my Dirty Martini sauce to have a uniquely Australian flavour angle to stand out. I love using Archie Rose’s Native Botanical Vodka in my dirty martinis so I thought this would be the perfect vodka to use!
Toolunka Creek olive brine is also a star of the Dirty Martini sauce. If you haven't already, must taste their exceptional olives. And with good olives, comes flavourful brine.
Some Like It Hot is a pasta sauce using Ziggy’s Wildfoods native hot sauce – made with Davidson plum and Dorrigo pepper – to bring the heat. Bellinger Valley raw Australian honey smooths it all out.
My Red Red Wine pasta sauce features Fiasco, a shiraz from the Adelaide Hills made with Sangiovese and Nebbiolo grapes. Fiasco boasts deep, juicy undertones, making it a perfect pair for the rich flavours of Australian iron bark-smoked garlic, sweet local roasted red peppers and Roma tomatoes.
I hear your sauces have won some awards?
Yes! My sauces have a won a few awards at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Awards. Dirty Martini won Silver in 2024 and 2025. Red, Red Wine won Bronze in 2024 and Some Like It Hot Pasta Sauce won Gold in 2025.

Our entire pasta and sauce range is vegetarian friendly.
All products are vegan, except for Some Like It Hot pasta sauce which contains honey.
Are you products gluten free?
All of our sauces are gluten free.
Where can I find the product ingredients and nutritional information?

Cooking & Storing
What’s the best way to cook the sauces?
Every sauce is dinner in a jar. Simply bring a jar of sauce to a simmer, then toss through hot al dente pasta. The sauces are also great bases for other creations including meatballs, sausages, prawns, greens (should I continue...). This is restaurant quality pasta at home. Check out our recipes for ideas.
How do I cook the slow-dried pasta?
Bring a large saucepan of water to a lively boil and season as salty as the sea. Add pasta and cook until al dente, 10-12 minutes.
Check out serving suggestions and recipe ideas.

About Saturday Night Pasta
Who founded Saturday Night Pasta?
Elizabeth Hewson is an Australian cook, author, brand-builder and the founder of Saturday Night Pasta. Lizzie has written three cookbooks – most recently Home Food (March 2026) – and writes a fortnightly recipe column in The Weekend Australian.
She's also the creator of the #saturdaynightpasta movement, which grew from a personal self-care ritual into a nationwide community of home cooks.
Saturday Night Pasta the product range is the natural next chapter: premium, beautifully designed pantry staples that bring the feeling of Saturday night to everyday cooking.
How did Saturday Night Pasta start?
It began as founder Lizzie Hewson's personal ritual – making pasta by hand every Saturday night as a way to manage anxiety and unwind. She started sharing it on Instagram under the hashtag #SaturdayNightPasta, and the ritual struck a chord, growing into a nationwide movement of home cooks doing the same thing. That led to a bestselling cookbook in 2020, and eventually the pasta and sauce range itself, launched in late 2022.
What makes your pasta and sauces different?
Our pasta is made from Australian durum wheat semolina, grown in the Golden Triangle region of NSW. It's slowly extruded through bronze dies and air dried at a low temperature for 48 hours – a traditional process that preserves flavour, nutrition and digestibility. It's made in Adelaide by pasta specialists who've been perfecting their craft since 1980.
As for the sauces – I wanted each one to have a uniquely Australian flavour angle. For my Dirty Martini sauce, I use Archie Rose's Native Botanical Vodka (it's what I use in my own dirty martinis!) along with brine from Toolunka Creek's exceptional olives. Some Like It Hot gets its kick from Ziggy's Wildfoods native hot sauce, made with Davidson plum and Dorrigo pepper, smoothed out with raw Bellinger Valley honey. And Red, Red Wine is made with Fiasco, an Adelaide Hills shiraz, alongside iron bark-smoked garlic and Roma tomatoes.
I'm proud that the sauces have picked up some awards too – Dirty Martini won Silver at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Awards in 2024 and 2025, Red Red Wine won Bronze in 2024, and Some Like It Hot won Gold in 2025.
