A Tomato Sauce with Hidden Strength 💪🏼 (Kid Approved!)

A Tomato Sauce with Hidden Strength 💪🏼 (Kid Approved!)

I’ve got a fussy eater, but the one thing she’ll happily gobble up is pasta with tomato sauce. I boost the nutritional value by blitzing in some cannellini beans and a handful of spinach - it adds creaminess and a hit of protein and iron without her noticing. Not that I’m trying to be sneaky, but sometimes you’ve got to take the wins where you can.

Serves:

  • INGREDIENTS

1 x 500ml jar SNP Home Base pasta sauce
1/2 tin cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
    1 handful baby spinach

  • METHOD

In a blender or Nutribullet, combine the SNP Home Base sauce, beans, and spinach. Blitz until smooth and creamy.

NB: This makes a generous batch, so I usually portion it into freezer bags and lay them flat to freeze - ready for a standby hit of hidden strength.

Tip the sauce into a saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer. Add your cooked pasta with a splash of pasta water and give it a forceful stir to coat.

Add cheese if your kids like it (mine do) and stir in. Finish with a final shower of grated cheese on top.
